If you're an enthusiast driver looking for an exciting classic, you won't find many cars more evocative or involving than this 1971 Lotus Europa S2.

Lotus Yellow over black with rare, dealer installed decals placed at the base of the the sail panels. 7,800 miles from new. This Europa retains the original paint, interior, chassis, motor and transaxle making this a highly-original example.

USA-1 High Performance, Inc. of Grand Rapids, Michigan is listed as the first owner, according to the original Lotus Central documentation. USA-1 used the car to develop performance parts for the Europa. In 1974, after a stint as a turbocharged test bed, this car was stored indoors.

In 2014 it was purchased by notable automotive journalist and collector, Jamie Kitman. Jamie began a comprehensive mechanical restoration which was then taken over by his son Ike Kitman, a well-known, talented and capable classic restoration expert.

Mechanically, this car is sorted. Motor, transaxle, suspension, brakes and steering are all in good working order. The gauges, lights and switches function as they should. The correct, 2015 date-coded, Michelin XAS tires are in excellent shape with 70% tread depth.

10 years after Jamie first bought this barn-find Europa, it's been transformed into a fun and reliable driver ready for touring, events and brisk Sunday morning backroad adventures. All the hard work has been done. Mechanically, this Europa wants for nothing. Enjoy it as-is or restore the body and win your local concours event.
